12.12.14 | Craig W. Kronenthal

Craig Kronenthal devotes his practice to all areas of patent law and has extensive prosecution and litigation experience. Mr. Kronenthal also specializes in trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes review proceedings, where he has represented both petitioners and patent owners. Additionally, Mr. Kronenthal counsels clients on various patent related matters and prepares patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement/non-infringement opinions. Mr. Kronenthal also handles ex parte reexaminations and ex parte appeals before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) as well as appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals to the Federal Circuit (CAFC).

Mr. Kronenthal works with all types of clients, from start-ups/solo-inventors to multinational corporations, on all types of patent related matters, from preparation and prosecution of patent applications (both utility and design applications) to enforcement of or defense from issued patents. His technical background and experiences allow him to work on a wide range of subject matter, although he mostly works on matters in the computer/electronic device and software areas. In particular, Mr. Kronenthal has extensive experience in matters related to semiconductors, computer networks, software, electronic circuitry, telecommunications, antennas, data encryption, e-commerce, and nanotechnology.

Before joining Banner & Witcoff, Mr. Kronenthal was a patent examiner at the USPTO. As a patent examiner, his primary focus was on image processing with regards to watermark, biomedical, and object tracking applications. Moreover, Mr. Kronenthal obtained valuable experience through his previous positions at the law firms of IP&T Group LLP in Annandale, VA, Sughrue Mion, PLLC in Washington, DC, and Christopher & Weisberg, PA in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Further, Mr. Kronenthal has technical experience in the fabrication, measuring, and testing of micro-resonators and other silicon based microelectromechanical systems for biomedical applications.

Mr. Kronenthal graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship. While at Georgia Tech, Mr. Kronenthal worked for the MicroSensors and MicroActuators Group in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In addition, Mr. Kronenthal earned his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, Mr. Kronenthal participated in the Health and Elder Law Clinic and was Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and a member of the University of Miami Business Law Review.
