Sonia Okolie focuses primarily on the preparation and prosecution of design patent applications and trademark prosecution. Prior to transitioning into this role, she worked in the Design Department for over three years. As a Design Patent Prosecution Specialist, a Paralegal, and eventually a Senior Paralegal, she managed design portfolios for clients such as Spectrum Brands and Electrolux; oversaw the preparation and filing of US and non-US design applications; and prepared and submitted responses to office actions and allowances. She served as the senior Design Team member responsible for training and mentoring new and current staff members.

Ms. Okolie earned a B.A. from Georgetown University in English with a double minor in Government and Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Juris Doctor at the George Washington University Law School, where she is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Quarterly Journal. She is also a Blog Moderator for the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Brief, the Events Coordinator for the South Asian Law Students Association, and a member of the Student Intellectual Property Association, Art Law and Entertainment Society, and Black Law Students Association.
