12.13.14 | Susan A. Wolffe

Susan Wolffe concentrates her practice in the preparation and prosecution of both U.S. and foreign patent applications, with an emphasis on chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. Ms. Wolffe’s experience in the wood products industry includes working with resins for use in particle board, plywood and other related wood products. Ms. Wolffe’s skills encompass rendering written opinions and counseling clients on patent related matters and she has represented clients in patent litigation. She presently works with a spectrum of clients ranging from large companies to individual inventors.

Prior to entering law school, Ms. Wolffe built a solid foundation for her future in intellectual property law as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Special Laws Administration Group. During her four years in this capacity, she gained extensive knowledge as an examiner. She screened patent applications for potential national security information and property rights, and performed system analyses of the then newly automated patent system.

Ms. Wolffe earned her B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1985, and her J.D. degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1990. She is admitted to practice before the bars in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and before both the Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Ms. Wolffe also served as Chair of the Chemical Practice Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
