On January 7, 2014, Richard S. Stockton presents “The Intersection of Trade Dress, Design Patents & Copyright” to the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) in Chicago.

First, Mr. Stockton presents on Design Patents. Design patent overview; trends in design patent law, including Apple v. Samsung and other significant recent cases; and the role of design patents in IP portfolios will be covered.

Next, Mr. Stockton joins a panel discussion on The Intersection of Trade Dress, Design Patents and Copyright. Interaction and overlap between trade dress, design patents, and copyright; business and litigation strategies for pursuing trade dress, design patents, and/or copyright; what the courts have gotten right and what they have gotten wrong; and potential reform needed in this area will be covered.
